Followthrough · Updated October 19, 2026
Your workspace
Followthrough is operated by Cory McCabe. We use your ChatGPT sign-in ID and email to identify your account. Your tasks, project details, original input, work hours, and imported calendar busy periods are stored for your workspace, separately from other users.
Google Calendar
When you connect Google Calendar, Followthrough stores your connection token encrypted. It reads your calendar list and busy times from calendars you select to avoid scheduling conflicts. It creates, updates, and removes Followthrough task events on your primary Google Calendar, including their titles, suggested steps, original input, and task-action links. Background planning can run while the site is closed.
Google Calendar data is used to provide calendar connection, scheduling, and synchronization. We do not sell your Google Calendar data or use it for advertising. Connecting your calendar does not grant another Followthrough user access to it.
Other calendar connections
Optional iCloud and Zoho calendar credentials are stored encrypted and used to read selected calendars for scheduling availability.
Optional Gmail task suggestions
Gmail suggestions are off until you explicitly enable them for a connected Google account and grant read-only Gmail access. Followthrough uses that access to find clear requests, commitments, deadlines, and completed requests related to your existing projects. It does not send, edit, archive, or delete your email.
The feature checks the last seven days of Inbox conversations, excluding Promotions, Social, Spam, and Trash, and recent sent replies in those conversations. It reads message identifiers, dates, sender and recipient headers, subjects, and selected plain-text content. Attachments and remote content are excluded. Background checks may run while Followthrough is closed.
Selected plain-text email content and message headers, together with relevant project information and open task context, are sent to OpenAI through its API to propose tasks and recognize completed requests. This transfer happens only when you enable Gmail suggestions after the in-app disclosure. Followthrough shows proposals separately for your review; you can edit, accept, or dismiss them. Accepted task titles, steps, and other task details become workspace data and may sync to your connected calendar. Full email bodies are not stored in tasks or calendar descriptions.
Gmail storage and controls
Google connection tokens and the suggestion payload, including limited source evidence, message references, and proposed tasks, are stored encrypted. Pending suggestions stop being available after thirty days and are removed during subsequent processing. Content-free identifiers used to avoid repeating accepted or dismissed suggestions expire after ninety days. Accepted tasks remain in your workspace until you delete them.
Turning off Gmail suggestions in Settings stops further email checks and clears the account’s pending email suggestions and review checkpoints. It does not delete tasks you already accepted or automatically remove Google’s existing authorization. You can disconnect the Google account in Followthrough and revoke access at Google Account connections. You can export or erase your Followthrough data in Settings, or contact us for a manual data request.
Google data and Limited Use
Followthrough’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used to provide the user-facing calendar and optional email productivity features described here. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to develop or train generalized AI or machine-learning models. Transfers to service providers are limited to providing these features. Human access is limited to your affirmative permission for specific information, security needs, legal requirements, or the other exceptions allowed by that policy.
OpenAI API requests use store: false, which disables response application-state storage. It does not establish Zero Data Retention. OpenAI may retain content in abuse-monitoring logs under the applicable organization controls and policies. See OpenAI’s data controls.
AI planning and task handoff
For AI planning, your original request, relevant project names and descriptions, local date, and time zone are sent to OpenAI to draft task titles and suggested steps. These API requests use the setting store: false. If you choose “Do this for me,” Followthrough prepares task instructions and context for you to open in ChatGPT or Codex. Review the prepared message before sending it.
Email capture
If you enable email capture, forwarded messages are received through Resend. The email subject and message become original task input, and the task-planning service can process them. Only senders you accept can create tasks through your configured email connection.
Storage, export, and deletion
The service uses OpenAI Sites hosting and Cloudflare storage for its workspace data. You can export your workspace as JSON from Settings. Beta invitees can erase their Followthrough data there; the app also attempts to remove its Google task events. You can disconnect a calendar in Settings and revoke Google access in your Google Account. Contact us for deletion requests or help with your data. The site owner separately manages access invitations.
